Obituary:
Stanley Fred Lambert, age 59 years, a resident of Elkins, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday morning, September 23, 2009. He was born, June 26, 1950 at Elkins, a son of the late Fred S. Lambert and Ethel V. Lambert Simmons. On September 12, 2003, he was married to Kimberly Sue Betler-Lambert who survives. Also surviving is his loving step father, Carl O. Simmons, one son, Bryan Lambert and wife Jamie of Centralia, Washington and one daughter, Michaela Lambert of Elkins. Brothers and sisters, Rev. Robert “Bobby” Lambert and wife Jean, Goshen, Indiana, Dennis Lambert and fiancé’ Janice Bodkins, Elkins, Alan Simmons and wife Amanda, Thomas, Patricia “Patty” Palmer and husband Larry, Elkins, and Shirley Barry and husband Steve, Elkins. One grandson, Jordan Lambert. Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews also survive. Also preceding him in death was his maternal grandparents, Earl & Pearl Kizamore and his paternal grandparents, Stelman F. Lambert and Laura Lambert. Stanley was a 30 year member of the United States Army having obtained the rank of Master Sergeant. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star, Silver Star and the Purple Heart as well as numerous other metals and recognitions for performance and dedication to his country. He was proud of his service as a member of the Army Special Forces during tours of duty. Stanley was a member of Elkins Lodge No. 108 AF & AM, Chapter 35 Royal Arch Masons, and HW Daniels Post 29 American Legion. He enjoyed hunting and was a member of the God’s Country Hunting Club. Friends may call from 10:00 AM until 12:00 noon Saturday, September 26, 2009 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Robert “Bobby” Lambert officiating. Full military rites will be accorded at the funeral home by members of the West Virginia National Guard Honor Guard Program, H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion and Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Cremation of his remains will follow. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Ohio Valley Affiliate, PO Box 163549, Columbus, Ohio 43216-3549 in memory of Mr. Lambert.
