Richard Lee Streets, age 66 years, a resident of Glenmore, passed away Monday morning, October 19, 2009 at his home. He was born July 17, 1943 at Flemington, WV, a son of the late Fred & Virginia Kelley Streets. On October 11, 1964, he was married to Wahneta Walker Streets who survives. He is survived by two sons, Greg & Brian Streets, of Elkins, one daughter, Mikki Streets Summerfield, of Buckhannon, three brothers, Fred & Charles Streets, of Volga, WV and Will Streets, of Montrose and three sisters, Patty Sandy-Rowan, of Phillippi, Janet Streets, of Buckhannon, and Jeanie Sandy of Ohio. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Tim Summerfield and Asa Streets. Also preceding him in death was one brother, Butch Streets.
Richard graduated from Philippi High School and was employed by C&P Telephone and Bell Atlantic prior to his retirement. He was a former Cub Scout Master, a member of the National Rifle Association, Scotties Men’s Club and the Telephone Company Pioneers. He was also a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church and loved hunting, fishing and farming.
Friends may call from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. On Thursday morning, Mr. Streets will be moved to the Otterbein United Methodist Church for visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, October 22nd from the church with Rev. Jim Murphy and Rev. Leon Hevener officiating. Interment will follow in the Beverly Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Otterbein United Methodist Church, 1100 South Davis Ave., Elkins, WV 26241 in memory of Mr. Streets.
