Obituary:
Bernard Lee Collett, age 79 years, a resident of South Mills, North Carolina and a former resident of East Dailey, passed away Wednesday morning, November 4, 2009 at the home of his daughter, Tammy Armentrout at Whitmer. He was born June 15, 1930 at Dailey, a son of the late Earl Washington Collett and Opal Mae Groves Collett. He was formally married to Faye Lucille Warner who passed away on December 29, 2003. Surviving are a son Roger Lee Collett and wife LeAnn of Lexington, NC and two daughters, Terry Lucille Thornhill and husband Daniel of South Mills, NC, formally of East Dailey and Tammy Louise Armentrout and husband Dave of Whitmer, WV. Two sisters, Joan Yokum and husband Austin, Beverly, WV, and Velma Gay Lewis Seal, Winchester, VA. Five grandchildren, Lindsay, Joseph and Andrea Thornhill, Alex Armentrout, and Jake Collett also survive. Also preceding him in death was an infant brother, James Lee Collett. Mr. Collett was a Veteran of the Korean War having served with the United States Air Force in England. He was employed by Lab Craft at Beverly and in May 2007, he retired from Colonial Mill Works at Beverly. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church of South Mills, NC and a former member of the Tygart Valley Baptist Church in Beverly, WV. He was also a member of HW Daniels Post 29 American Legion. Friends may call from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. Saturday, November 7, 2009 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jack Howell and Rev. William Sullivan officiating. Interment will follow in the American Legion’s Little Arlington Cemetery near Elkins. Full military rites will be accorded at the gravesite by members of HW Daniels Post 29 American Legion and Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
