Teresa J. Thorne, age 82 years, a resident of Belington, passed away at 12:30 PM Thursday, November 5, 2009 in the Davis Memorial Hospital. She was born March 12, 1927 at Dotson, MD, a daughter of the late John Joseph and Julia Kotyuk Grega. She was married to Hubert E. Thorne who preceded her in death. She is survived by one son, James Thorne and wife Cheryl, of Belington. Two daughters, Patty Howell & husband Terry, of Salem, WV and Terry Summers & husband Bob, of Midlothian, VA. Seven grandchildren, Gregory Summers and wife Kalli, Bryan Summers, Erik Howell, Misty Osborne and husband John, Brian Thorne and wife Nicole, Tiffany Robins and husband Blake and Dustin Thorne and seven great grandchildren, Caleb Summers, Casey, Chase, Chance, and Caitlynne Howell, Austin Osborne and Baine Robins also survive. Also preceding her in death were two brothers and three sisters.
Mrs. Thorne was a 1945 graduate of Washington Irving High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church at Buckhannon.
At Mrs. Thorne’s request, her remains will be cremated.
Friends may call from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon Monday, November 9, 2009 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon Monday from the funeral home chapel with the Very Reverend Father Donald X. Higgs, VF officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to the American Lung Association of West Virginia, P. O. Box 3980, Charleston, WV 25339-3980 in memory of Mrs. Thorne.
