William Harding Isner, age 89, of Woodstock, Virginia passed away Saturday, November 7, 2009 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 5, 1920 in Elkins, a son of the late Clay and Mabel Shoemaker Isner. Surviving are his loving wife, Evalena May See Isner; his son, William R. Isner and wife, Cynthia of Woodstock; a grandson, Justin Clay Isner of Charlottesville; sister, Betty Sausnock of Baltimore, MD; his caregivers and friends, Barbara Stickley and Bob Taylor; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in death by a son, Forrest Clay Isner; six brothers, Cliff, Marvin, James, Richard, Irvin and Russell Isner; three sisters, Mary Teter, Dorothy Cunningham and Rita Roselle.
Mr. Isner was a member of the Woodstock Presbyterian Church, the International Order Of Odd Fellows,and Rockville (MD) Lions Club and served in the United States Marine Corp in the Air Corp during World War II. He retired from Columbia Gas Transmission, LLC as superintendent of measurements and regulations after 30 years of service and was noted for his work on antique and regular clocks having customers throughout the United States and abroad.
Friends may call from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 11th, 2009 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Lisa Webb and Rev. David Howard officiating. Interment will follow in the Maplewood Cemetery at Elkins. Full military rites will be accorded at the gravesite by members of HW Daniels Post 29 American Legion and Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
