Anton “Tony” Sneberger, age 77 years, a resident of Czar, passed away at 5:05 am Monday, November 23, 2009 in the Hospice Care Inpatient Center. He was born January 14, 1932 on Turkey Bone Mountain, Pickens, WV, a son of the late Mark and Polona Palvas Sneberger. On June 1, 1954, he was married to Lena Smith Sneberger who survives at Czar. Also surviving are two daughters, Diane Dulaney and husband Charles, of Czar, and Christine Sneberger of Czar and fiancé Rev. Randy Long and one beloved granddaughter, Tiffany Howell of Buckhannon. One brother, John Sneberger, of Helvetia, and one sister, Rosie Ketterman, of Turkey Bone Mountain, Pickens also survive. Also preceding him in death were five sisters, Mary Varner, Olga Ball, Helen Sneberger, Katie Winemiller and Vera Schneider, one brother, Mark Sneberger and a half-brother, Joseph Marinic. Tony was a veteran of the United States Army having served as a Tank Operator. He spent his life working in the mines as a mechanic and equipment operator and retired from DeMotto Coal Company. He was a member of the Pickens American Legion Post 122. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and
a life time member of the Beech Mountain Sportsman Club.
Friends may call from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Father Ronald Nikodem and Rev. Randy Long officiating. Interment will follow in the Pickens Catholic Cemetery at Pickens. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice Care Corporation, PO Box 760, Arthurdale, WV 26520 in memory of Mr. Sneberger.
