Mr. Howard W. “Buck” Miller, age 75 years, a resident of Elkins, passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at his home. He was born February 25, 1934 in Elkins a son of the late Edward Wade and Pheobie Olive Purkey Miller. He was married to Ieta Mae Ryan Miller who survives in Elkins. Also surviving is one son, Howard W. “Chip” Miller, Jr. and wife Barbara, Elkins, three daughters, Kathy Broughton and husband Chris, Debbie Isner and husband Phil and Kelly Broughton and husband Jeff all of Elkins. Two sisters, Lenora Gregory and Ada Belle McCall both of Ohio and grandchildren, Britney and Travis Miller, Timmy Cunningham, Lindsey and Cory Broughton, Candy New, Stephanie Roy, Philip Isner and Heath Broughton and eight great grandchildren also survive. Also preceding him in death was one sister, Evelyn Crouse and one brother, Charles “Sam” Miller.
Mr. Miller attended the schools of Randolph County and was a retired Conductor for CSX Railroad with 18 years of service. He was owner of Custom Auto Trim, was an avid outdoorsman enjoying camping with family and friends and was a softball player in his younger years. He was a Protestant by Faith and attended the Orlena United Methodist Church.
Friends may call from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, December 4, 2009 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 5th from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Charles Stevens officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman. Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Hospice, 1600 Crim Ave., Belington, WV 26250 in memory of Mr. Miller.
