Obituary:
Rachel Marie Wamsley Morris, age 82 years, a resident of Dailey, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2009 in the Rockingham Memorial Hospital at Harrisonburg, VA following a four month illness. She was born October 6, 1927 at Elkins, a daughter of the late John Henry Wamsley and Ruby Pritt Wamsley. In June of 1945, she married Russell Morris who preceded her in death on June 10, 1985. She is survived by one son, Russell “Rusty” Morris and wife Patricia White Morris of Fulks Run, VA, one granddaughter, Crystal Mongold and husband Bobby of Harrisonburg, VA and one grandson, Dusty Morris of Fulks Run, VA. Also surviving are three great grandchildren; Nora Morris, Ravyn and Leyden Mongold and a great granddaughter who will be born on December 8, 2009 to be named Ashlyn Mongold. Several nieces and nephews including Barbara Jennings of Elkins, and great nieces, Jessica and Marisa Jennings and a special caregiver, Pam Zirkle of Dailey also survive. Also preceding her in death was one sister, Anna Margaret Godwin and a nephew, Henry Lee Collett. Mrs. Morris was a retired Social Worker with the State of West Virginia. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew and loved her. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until 1:45 P.M. on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins. Mrs. Morris will then be moved to the Elkins Memorial Gardens where a graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Rev. Ike Risser will officiate and interment will follow.
