Ellen Jane McCartney, age 33 years, a resident of Morgantown, died unexpectedly on Sunday, December 20, 2009 in the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown following a brief illness. She was born October 10, 1976 at Fairmont. She was the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. B.H. Goerlich of Chenoweth Creek Road, Elkins. Ellie was the very proud mother of Emma Raye Hose, age 4, who survives in Morgantown with her father Brian Hose and Emma’s two sisters, Holly and Heather. Ellie is also survived by her sisters, Julie Sandolfini and husband Lucas, Morgantown and Ingrid Goerlich Curry and husband Bruce of Nolensville, Tennessee.
Ellie’s greatest joy in life was her beloved daughter, Emma.
Ellie graduated from Forest Hills High School in 1994. She received a B.S. Degree in Biology from Roanoke College in 1998. In 2001, she received a B.S. Degree in Psychology and in 2003 she received a M.S. in Psychology from West Virginia University. Ellie worked as an Autism Specialist/Clinical Associate at the Center for Excellence in Disabilities at West Virginia University in Morgantown.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Morgantown. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made in Ellie’s name to the Autism Society of America, WV State Chapter, PO Box 7, Huntington, WV 25706, Attn: Kim Farley.
