Kenneth Edwin Hannum, age 82 years, a resident of Rt. 4, Elkins, passed away Saturday, December 26, 2009 at his residence. He was born January 27, 1927 at Front Royal, VA, a son of the late Frank and Hazel Hannum. He was married to the former Mildred Joyce Smith, who preceded him in Death on March 12, 2008. He is survived by one daughter, Karen Jo Coomes of Elkins, one granddaughter, Melissa Renee Miller of Maryland and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was one step- son, William “Bill” DeLaney, and one brother, Bernard Hannum. Mr. Hannum was a Veteran of WWII having served in the United States Navy. He had worked at Bethlehem Steel and as a union bricklayer until his retirement. He was a member of B.P.O.E. Lodge No. 1135 of Elkins, the Moose Lodge of Glen Burnie Maryland and was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Maryland. He was an avid Fisherman.
Friends may call at the Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M., the funeral hour. Rev. Donald L. Fitzwater will officiate and interment will follow at the Elkins Memorial Gardens. Presentation of the American Flag will be made at the gravesite by members of H.W. Daniels Post No. 29 American Legion. Memorial contributions may be made to the
