Mr. Jack M. Lewis, Jr., age 53 years, a resident of Pleasant Avenue, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Friday, December 25, 2009. He had been in declining health, but his death was unexpected. Jack was born June 8, 1956 in Fairmont, WV, a son of Jack and Mary Lewis of Beverly. He was baptized in the Methodist church in Fairmont and became a Christian by Faith. Jack leaves behind, in addition to his parents, three sisters, Mari Lewis of Weirton, WV, Cheryl Sturm of Indiana and Patti Lewis of Phoenix, AZ. He attended Elkins High School and received his G.E.D. before entering into the United States Air Force. He went on to serve with the Peace Corp in Ohio and Michigan. Jack held various jobs in Baltimore and Elkins. He was a disc jockey at Davis & Elkins College for a short time. Jack, known as Jackie to his friends and family loved playing the drums, which he excelled in. He also loved jazz music and would spend his Saturday evenings listening to jazz programs. His family already misses him so much and will see Jackie again when their Lord gathers them all home.
Friends will be received from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, December 30, 2009 from the Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, from the funeral home chapel. Preacher Ron Nestor and Pastor Terry Cannon will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Brendan Catholic Cemetery in Elkins where full military rites will be accorded by members of H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion and Tygart Valley Post 3647. In lieu of flowers, Jackie would want donations to be made to the Randolph County Humane Society, P. O. Box 785, Elkins, WV 26241. He had a soft spot for kittens and was known to adopt and feed them.
