Obituary:
Mr. David Lester Hedrick, age 81 years, a resident of Elkins, passed away Monday afternoon, January 4, 2010 in the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown following an extended illness. He was born April 2, 1928 at Dunmore, WV a son of the late Frank and Georgie Persinger Hedrick. Surviving are his wife Virginia Hensil Hedrick, his children, Donald Gibson, Rebecca Coberly, Michael Gibson and wife Linda, Sharon Jackson and husband Grover “Crow” Jackson, Terry Hedrick and wife Karen, Nancy Mankamyer and husband David, Barbara Smith and husband Gary, Gregory Hedrick, Beverly Hinchman, Marylin Powers and husband Kenneth. Also surviving are siblings, Frances Bennett, Ocie Rosier and William Hedrick and wife Glenda, grandchildren, Stacia McDonald and husband Chad, Michael “Lane” Gibson and wife Jennifer, Kent Vandevender and wife Vickie, Susy Mullens and husband Mike,Nicole Dickson, Jessica Foy and husband David, Madonna Dormaire and husband David, Lisa Sandridge, Sam Hedrick, Todd Hedrick, Edward Austin and wife Rachelle, Mitchell McSpadden, Teresa Smith, Gary Smith, Tina Hedrick, Shasta Hedrick, Shawn Hedrick, Heather Bonnett and husband Mike, Tabitha Tincher and husband Ronnie, Scott Bonnell, Gary Bonnell and wife Jessica, Rocky Arbogast and wife Becky, Benjamin Arbogast and Melodee Hensley and numerous great grandchildren. Mr. Hedrick was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II. He was employed by Kelly Foundry for 37 years prior to retiring in 1990. In his retirement, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, travelling and crafting furniture from wood. He attended Harts Chapel Church at Chenoweth Creek. Friends may call from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, January 8, 2010 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 9th from the funeral home chapel with Pastor David Collins and Pastor Terry Hedrick officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. David Lester Hedrick.
