Mr. Edgar Varner, age 83 years, a resident of Elkins, passed away Saturday evening, January 9, 2010 at his home. He was born November 2, 1926 at Hazelwood, a son of the late Dow and Elva Kile Varner. He was married to the former Julia Anne Lytle Varner who survives in Elkins. Also surviving is one son, Rex Lytle Varner, Rehoboth Beach, DE., a daughter, Rachel Marie Varner, Elkins and a sister, Jo Ellen Imre’ of Columbia, MD. Also preceding him in death were three brothers, Kile, Daniel and David Varner and two sisters, Ruth and Florence Varner.
Ed was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II. He was employed as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Columbia Gas Transmission Corporation at the time of his retirement. He was a life member of H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion and Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a member of the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church.
At the request of the deceased, his remains were cremated. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Hospice, 1600 Crim Avenue, Belington, WV 26250 in memory of Mr. Varner.
