Obituary:
Alma Mae Fincham Cave of 242 Seneca Road, Elkins, departed this life to join our Lord on Monday, January 11, 2010. She had been in declining health since 1994. She was born May 1, 1937 at Mill Creek, a daughter of the late Kermit and Flora Wegman Fincham. After graduating from Tygart Valley High School in 1955, she moved to Baltimore, Maryland where on March 16, 1957 she married Clyde Eugene “Gene” Cave formerly of Valley Head. In Baltimore, she raised her daughters and began her government career with the Social Security Administration, Woodlawn, Maryland. Upon her family’s brief return to Mill Creek in the mid 1960’s, she worked as the Secretary for Concast Metals, then located in Dailey, West Virginia. In 1970, she moved to Edgemere, Maryland and began working for Fradkin Brothers Furniture. Shortly thereafter, she reinstated briefly with the Social Security Administration and later completed her government career, as a Personnel Specialist with the Veterans Administration, Fort Howard, Maryland where she remained until she joined her husband in semi-retirement in Elkins. Along with her husband, she owned and operated the G & A Sub Shop on 10th Street in Elkins until July, 1993. Alma was loving, devoted and generous to her family and friends. She enjoyed crocheting, needle pointing, watching her husband’s C2 race car at the local dirt track races and spending time at camp in Bemis, West Virginia. Along with her parents, preceding her in death are her sisters Verna Fincham Culbertson and Nancy Fincham Mathes, her brothers Kermit Gatewood Fincham and Paul Fincham and her in-laws Clyde and Cleo Glee Wilfong Cave. Along with her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Charlotte Cave Richards and husband Greg of Elkins, her daughter Carla Cave Dorsch and husband Alan of Simpsonville, SC, her grandchildren, Cass DeBolt, Myrtle Beach, SC, Corey DeBolt, Elkins, Rex Jenkins, Simpsonville, SC, Emily and Bethany Richards, Elkins and her great granddaughter, Kyndal Howell, Myrtle Beach, SC. Her surviving siblings are Virginia Burky and husband Vernon, Mill Creek, John Fincham and wife Bessie, Glen Burnie, MD, Truman Fincham and wife Nancy, Hedgesville, WV, Olive Farrar and husband Hollis, Mill Creek, Arelene Lanham and husband William “Wink”, Mt. Clare, WV, Sharon Bonnett and husband Gary, Rock Cave, WV and Charolette Carr and husband Rodney, Fleming, OH, two special sister-in-laws Charleen Smith and Carolyn Trieber, a brother-in-law Charles “Chuck” Cave, thirty three nieces and nephews and her devoted care giver Delores Simmons. Friends may call from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, January 14th from the funeral home chapel with Rev. William”Wink” Lanham officiating. Interment will follow in the Brick Church Cemetery near Huttonsville.
