Obituary:
Virginia Dale Spencer Kittle, age 91 years, a resident of Elkins, passed away Wednesday evening, February 3, 2010 in the Elkins Regional Convalescent Center. She was born November 1, 1918 at Rock Cave, a daughter of the late John Allen Spencer and the late Libby Levera Kincaid Spencer. On September 16, 1939 she was married to Denzil H. Kittle who preceded her in death on January 19, 1975. Surviving are one son, Richard Kittle and wife Patty of Elkins, grandchildren, Cindy Sullivan and husband Tim, Franklin, TN, Douglas Kittle and wife Paula, Mt. Juliet, TN, Holly Loper and husband Jeff, Mt. Juliet, TN, Kristyn Kittle and fiancé, Brent Mergenthaler, Barboursville, WV and Chad Bartlett and wife Stacey, Baltimore, MD. Seven great grandchildren, Ethan Sullivan, Delaney Loper, Bailey, Seneca, Gaelen, Joely and Jensen Kittle and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Also preceding her in death were sisters, Clara Elizabeth Nestor and Beatrice Ware and brothers, Dorsey Allen Spencer, Charles Edward Spencer, Edward Hugh Spencer and Brooks Spencer. Mrs. Kittle previously resided in Akron, Ohio where she was an active member and Sunday School Teacher at the Akron Baptist Temple. After returning to West Virginia, she was a homemaker and an active member of the First Baptist Church of Elkins. Friends may call from 6:00 PM until 8:00 Pm Monday, February 8, 2010 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 9th from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Nancy Stevens and Rev. Dr. Marvin L. Parli officiating. Interment will follow in the Mount Union Cemetery near Sand Run, Upshur County. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Northern Regional Office, 1299 Pineview Drive, Suite 3, Morgantown, WV 26505 in memory of Mrs. Kittle.
