Our Story
Learn our story, from the beginning and into the future.
Ever since we opened our doors we have approached life (and death) differently. While some just see the end of a loved one’s life as a time for grief and mourning, we prefer to think of it as a time for reflection, appreciation and even celebration. This is evident in everything we do, from the way we conduct our services to the amenities we choose to offer. We are not Just a funeral home. We are a close knit community dedicated to honoring, sharing and preserving the amazing and inspirational stories that are life.
Why Us?
In a nutshell? Experience, professionalism, compassion, and empathy.

We've learned a lot over 50 years. Like how to present options without overwhelming. And how to meet the needs of many caring parties. People come to us in difficult times, and we respond kindness, calmness and expertise. Our goal is to create a beautiful occasion and make you feel welcome, always. We spend our days planning with families. We stay up to date with industry developments. And we make hard times a little easier.

Tomblyn Funeral Home was established in October 1968 at its present location at 45 Randolph Avenue, Elkins, West Virginia. The late Myron and Sue Tomblyn founded the funeral home on the principal of helping families at their greatest time of need. Their oldest son, Mark Tomblyn joined them in the operation of the funeral home in 1980 as a embalmer and funeral director. Phil Tomblyn joined the staff in 1982 as a funeral director and embalmer followed by daughter Lisa Tomblyn Preusch in 1992 as Office Manager. Andy Lothes was employed in 1994 following completion of Mortuary School followed by Mark’s wife Dinah in 1999.
Throughout the years of service to Randolph County, the staff of Tomblyn Funeral Home has maintained their commitment to those which they serve. Their vision remains steadfast in meeting the needs of an ever-changing society through improvement in service, facilities and product selection while maintaining the tradition of our family helping your family through a most difficult time of need.
Since its beginning, Tomblyn Funeral Home has grown to be the most recognized and respected funeral service provider in the Randolph County area. With over 80 years of combined funeral experience, the families we serve can be assured of comforting service with superior quality.
