Edgar D. “Ed” Kyle of Elkins passed away Sunday, March 19, 2017 at the Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center in Elkins. Ed was born in Elkins on July 22, 1931 the son of the late Clifford L. and Eva Mae Wright Kyle. He was twice married, first to Sandy Kyle who preceded him in death and later to Mary Ann Kyle who survives. Also surviving are five brothers, Arnold Kyle, Randy Kyle and wife Juanita, Phil Kyle and wife Marlene, Jeff Kyle and wife Janice, all of Elkins, and Jim Kyle and wife Sue of Keyser, WV; three sisters, Mary Rowan and husband Buddy, Brenda Kirkpatrick and Martha Roy and husband David all of Elkins and one sister-in-law, Eunice McBrayer of Brandon, FL. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and one great-great niece and family friends, the Dave Burgess family. Also preceding him in death were one sister, Patty Miller, brother-in-law, John Kirkpatrick, sister-in-law, Kitty Kyle and brother-in-law, Joseph McBrayer. Ed was a 1950 graduate of Elkins High School and was a retired Senior Master Sergeant of the United States Air Force having served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars and was awarded the Bronze Star for service during the Vietnam War. He later retired from the West Virginia ABC Store. Ed enjoyed the family gatherings, hunting, fishing and his garden. He was a member of the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church, the Men of the Church and also served as an usher. Friends may call from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. On Thursday morning, Mr. Kyle will be moved to the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church for visitation from 10:00 am until 11:00 am the funeral hour. Rev. Peter Vial and Preaching Minister Jason Brandon will officiate. Interment will follow in the Elkins Memorial Gardens on the Airport Road, Elkins where full military honors will be accorded at the gravesite by the United States Air Force Honor Guard, H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion and Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Memorial contributions may be made to Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center, 1175 Beverly Pike, Elkins, WV 26241, Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church Youth Group, 450 South Randolph Avenue, Elkins, WV 26241 or to West Virginia Caring, P. O. Box 760, Arthurdale, WV 26520 in memory of Mr. Kyle. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Edgar D. “Ed” Kyle.
