Edna Grace Auvil Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Edna Grace Auvil, age 90 years, a resident of Elkins, passed from this life Friday, November 6, 2015 at her home with family and hospice care. She was born December 16, 1924 at St. George, a daughter of the late Charlie Howard and Velva Myrtle Martin Moore. On November 14, 1942 she was married to John Harvey Auvil, who preceded her in death September 2005. They had celebrated 63 years of marriage. Surviving are three daughters, Vonda “Bonnie” Minear and husband William “JR” Minear, Jr. of Elkins, Judy Phillips and husband Harold of Parsons, Sandra “Sandy” Crow and husband Gerald “Jerry” of Tomahawk, WI. Three grandchildren, Debbie Phillips of Parsons, Jeff Auvil and wife Carla of Montrose and Melissa Minear Washington and husband Andre of MD. Two great grandchildren, Dalton Auvil and Seth Auvil, two sisters, Eva Phillips of Parsons and Mary Shingleton of Ohio, one brother, Howard Moore of St. George and three sisters-in-law, Eldare Moore of Philippi, Emogene Moore and Evelyn Moore, both of Parsons also survive. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Delmas Auvil, sisters, Belva Gooden and Dessie Jones and three brothers, Earl, Walter and Brown Moore. Edna attended the one room Murphy School at Clover Run. She was devoted to caring for her family and worked along with her husband on their farm and saw mill. She retired from Kingsford Company in Parsons. She was a member of the United Brethren Church at Brushy Fork and attended Woodford Memorial United Methodist Church in Elkins She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Friends may call from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, November 12th from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jeremiah Jasper officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman. Memorial contributions may be made to the Woodford Memorial United Methodist Church, 113 First Street, Elkins, WV 26241 or to the Women’s Ministry, United Methodist Women of Woodford Memorial United Methodist Church, 113 First Street, Elkins, WV 26241 in memory of Mrs. Auvil.
