Jack L. Calain Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Jack L. Calain, age 96 years, a resident of Gilman, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2022 at the WV Caring Hospice Center in Elkins. He was born November 26, 1925 in Elkins, a son of the late Harley and Sallie Kimble Calain. He was twice married, first on January 20, 1949 at Elkins, he was married to Leona Gregory who preceded him in death September 10, 1999. On May 3, 2001 he was married to Betty Jean Sheets who preceded him in death May 25, 2012. He is survived by one nephew, Brasil W. Hamrick, Jr. of Mt. Sidney, VA and one niece, Mary Lou Ray of Lawrenceburg, KY. Also preceding him in death was one brother, Ervin Calain and one sister, Mary Jane Calain Hamrick. Jack was a graduate of Elkins High School and a Veteran of the United States Army having obtained the rank of Sergeant while serving during World War II. He was a graduate of Davis & Elkins College and had retired from ITT Granell Company. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Elkins. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at the Maplewood Cemetery in Elkins with Rev. Brian L. Seders officiating. Interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mountaineer Chapter Izaac Walton League of America, P. O. Box 1891, Elkins, WV 26241 in memory of Jack.
