James Neal Kelly, age 71, a resident of Highland Park, passed away Thursday evening, September 20, 2018 at his home. He was born May 19, 1947 in Mabie, WV a son of the late Henry and Hannah Finlend Kelley. On August 4, 2001 in Elkins he married Brenda Kaye Jones who survives at Highland Park. Also surviving are two sons, James M. Kelly of Virginia and Joshua Kelly of Elkins. Also surviving is one step son, Shawn Wilson, Elkins, two step daughters, Lydia Stevens and Alexandria Kesphanich both of Elkins, one sister, Katherine Kelly of Elkins and fifteen grandchildren. Also preceding him in death were three brothers and two sisters. Jim attended the schools of Randolph County and was a Veteran of the United States Navy prior to his retirement. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Friends may call from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Monday, September 24, 2018 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. Cremation will follow. His wish for cremation was honored. A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, May 17, 2019 at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman with Pastor Mike House officiating. Full military honors will be accorded by members of HW Daniels Post 29 American Legion and Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
