John Carlson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mr. John Carlson, age 49 years, a resident of Elkins, passed away Tuesday morning, October 20, 2015 at his home. He was born January 2, 1966 at Fairmont, a son of the late Christopher Carlson and Dorothy Updike Carlson who survives at West Union, WV. Also surviving is one son, Christopher Nichols, Farmington, WV, two sisters, Kari Carlson Coffindaffer, Lost Creek, WV and Angelia Carlson Mackey of Houston, TX. Also surviving are his former companion, Sheree Nixon, a special aunt Harriet Woods with whom he lived, a niece, Carissa Coffindaffer and a nephew, Carl Mackey. John attended the schools of Marion County, had worked at the 1863 Tavern and owned Express Towing and transported Classic Cars throughout the country. He was employed as a Sales Representative at Auto Zone at the time of his death. He was an advocate for the protection of animals and a member of Pet Helpers, Inc. of Fairmont, WV. At the request of John, his remains were cremated. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm Saturday, October 24, 2015 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, October 24th from the Tomblyn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Peter A. Vial officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Pet Helpers, Inc., 726 East Park Ave., Fairmont, WV 26554 in memory of John.
