LaDonna Maxine Frost Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

LaDonna Maxine Jenkins Frost, age 91 years, of Elkins, departed this life June 4, 2022 after several months of failing health. She died peacefully surrounded by her children. LaDonna was born in Grafton, West Virginia, on May 31, 1931, the oldest of five children of John B. Jenkins and Mildred V. Jenkins. On June 6, 1954, LaDonna married John Franklin Frost, the love of her life. They were together for 54 years. She is survived by her four children - Beth Adkins (Scott), Cathy Bogarad (Barry), Frank Frost, and Tom Frost (John); her grandchildren - Elizabeth Meadows (Jake), Josh Anacker, and Matthew Adkins (Lindsey), and two great-grandchildren - Waylon Meadows, and Cooper Adkins. In addition, she is survived by her sisters, Dolores Baker (Delbert), Sheryl Isner (Paul), sister-in-law Sebie Jenkins (Tim) and brother John Jenkins (Sally). Many nieces and nephews also added to her precious family. LaDonna graduated from Grafton High School in Grafton, West Virginia and then attended Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio. She went on to graduate from Fairmont State College in Fairmont, West Virginia, with a degree in teaching. She taught physical education at Grafton High School for a few years before moving to Arlington, Virginia, and then to Cleveland, Ohio. After her first child was born, she and John moved to Elkins, West Virginia. She went on to raise three more children and eventually then went back to teaching. She taught social studies at Elkins Junior High School for many years. She had a very well-rounded, happy life. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church for 62 years and belonged to the Julia Bonafield Circle there. She was also a member of the Randolph County Retired Teachers, Davis and Elkins College Aid, Elkins Woman’s Society, Emma Scott Garden Club and was a volunteer for the Davis Memorial Hospital after retiring and also volunteered for the Salvation Army with her husband, John, for 13 years. She was elected to the Democrat Executive Committee of Randolph County. LaDonna was a woman with many hobbies and she excelled in all of them. She loved to cook for family gatherings or take a pie to a friend. She created flower arrangements and grew flowers. She was a good seamstress, making clothes, quilts, curtains, tablecloths, wall hangings, braided rugs and house decorations. LaDonna was also a big WVU fan and liked watching football games in the fall. She loved being with family and friends. She really cared about people. Friends may call from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. On Thursday, June 9th, LaDonna with be moved to the First United Methodist Church in Elkins where friends may gather at 11:00 a.m. for the funeral. Rev. Brian Seders will officiate and entombment will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman. LaDonna was a dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church and was committed to their community projects and outreach to the needy. In addition, she was passionate about helping the sick children being cared for at St. Jude’s Hospital.
