Margie Lavon Sutton, age 94 years, a resident of Elkins went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 22, 2021 surrounded by members of her family while under the care of West Virginia Caring. She had been in her usual health and death was unexpected. She was born December 11, 1926 at Harding, a daughter of the late Howard and Catherine Shreve. Margie graduated from Elkins High School in 1944. She married the love of her life John Sutton on December 25, 1947 in Elkins. They had shared thirty seven wonderful years of marriage before his passing on December 14, 1984. They are now reunited to share eternity. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Edna Slayton and Betty Friend. She is survived by two children, Steven Sutton and wife Sharon of Elkins and Deborah Sutton Cook and husband Steven of Elkins; three granddaughters, Chelsey Hughes of Elkins, Shelly Carr and husband Tracy of Elkins, and Emily Currence and husband Joshua of Elkins and three great-grandchildren, Gavin and Addison Carr and Mikaela Currence. Margie was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elkins. She worked for Davis Electric, Davis Memorial Hospital and Memorial General Hospital in Elkins for several years. She had many lifelong friends that she kept in touch with over the years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, going to the beach, camping and traveling. Margie loved her family and guided them with uncommon grace and wisdom that encouraged and inspired them to always do their very best. She will be missed by her family, friends and all who knew her. The family would like to express and extend a special gratitude of thanks to the care givers of Valentine Assisted Living Home and West Virginia Caring. All of them took pride in providing wonderful care to Margie and allowed her to depart this world with dignity and grace. A private service will be held. Interment will follow at Mountain State Memorial Gardens with Rev. Brian L. Seders officiating. In lieu of flowers, Margie requested that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions to the Randolph County Senior Center, P. O. Box 727, Elkins, WV 26241 in memory of Margie.
