Nolen E. Swecker

April 1, 1932 - March 17, 2020

Mr. Nolen E. Swecker, age 87 years, a resident of Elkins, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at the Mon Health Medical Center in Morgantown. He was born April 1, 1932 at Circleville, WV a son of the late Harold Lee and Clara Greth Mullenax Swecker. On September 22, 1951 in Elkins, he married Dolores Anne Thorne Swecker who preceded him in death in 2010. Surviving is one daughter, Elaine Kirkpatrick and husband Jeff, Belington, WV, one grandson, Shawn Kirkpatrick and wife Erica, one grand- daughter, Julie Lofton and husband Brennon and three great grandsons, Kaleb Hunter and Ryder Blaise Kirkpatrick and Kasen Alexander Lofton. Many additional friends and family also survive. Nolen was a well-known member of the Elkins Business Community. He was employed at Montgomery Ward’s in Elkins, the Kompact Store in Elkins, was the owner of Nolen’s Shoes in Elkins and was the manager of the Elkins Hardee’s for many years prior to his retirement. He attended Horizons Church Barbour County and was a member of Elkins Lodge No. 108 A.F. & A.M, Osiris Shrine, Chapter 35 Royal Arch Masons and Scottish Rite of Free Masonry. Nolen enjoyed spending time with people and long scenic drives. He loved spending time with his family and friends. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, March 21, 2020 at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman. Pastor Jeff Burnett will officiate and interment will follow.
