Roy Jimmie Day, age 89 years, a resident of Job passed away Sunday morning, June 19th, 2016 at the Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center. He was born August 15, 1926 at Job, a son of the late James D. and Lula Mae Painter Day. He was twice married, first to Freda Mae Myares who preceded him in death in 1977. In 1998, he was married to Geraldine Tingler Raines Day who survives. Also surviving is one son, Jimmie Roy Day and wife Connie Sue of Yazoo, Mississippi, one daughter, Beverly Kay Simmons and husband John of Falkville, Alabama, one sister, Twila Evans of Moorefield, WV and two grandchildren. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Also preceding him in death were three brothers, Donnie, Homer and Troy Day. Roy was a Veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army where he received the Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, WW II Victory Ribbon and the Meritorious Unit Aware. Roy was retired from the Adolf Coors Company. He was a “Jack of All Trades” and loved to take on challenging jobs. He was a member of the Job Church of God. Friends may call from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at the Job Church of God. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 23rd from the church with Pastor Todd Rhodes officiating. Interment will follow in the Day Cemetery at Job. The presentation of the American Flag will be made by members of the West Virginia National Guard Honor Guard Program.
